Margot de Valois from Alex Dumas' Queen Margot. Looking sad before her arranged marriage with future Henri the IV of France.

Started out as a contest entry, this renaissance gown turned out to be a lot of fun. Silk with gold embroidery, corals and lace.

You rule guys! Thanks a lot!

Daily DeviationA dress for a queen by ~Arany is a great example of what is needed for a good costume rendering. Even in its subtlety, if you were to make this garment for theater you would know exactly how it was constructed just by looking at this. (Suggested by `dedredhed and Featured by `bornghost)

*dies* Okay, what really amazes me here are those folds, and how you make the design around the edge look absolutely perfect around the folds. That's just...wow. Everything about it looks so silky and smooth, and the gold edges....

It's just totally gorgeous. I wish I had your imagination when it comes to costumes. :cries:
True, one thing I love about it is the gold thread around the edges... But they're really not that hard to make, quite random infact... simple curly shapes! I don't want you to put yourself down, especially since your latest looks amazing! Such neat and eye-catchy designs! Promise a decent comment in two days, now I'm sleaping on the keyboard... :waves:
I'll have to be braver and try more curly shapes...and more gold. I LOVE the effect. :D

Oh, no problem, I understand how insane things are. :faint: My dev-list is so backed up right now....
Wow!!! :jawdrop: That is absolutely gorgeous! I love the details you've managed to capture - its amazing.
I particularly love the way she'd holding the roses and how they sort of drop out of her hands...is that blood on her wrists? Only criticism is perhaps her eyes- maybe could have been a bit more detailed to show emotion. Anyway, simply stunning work - you really are very talented. :worship: luv ezo xxx

Wish I had a dress like that one!! Good job on the folds :)
What a wonderfully detailed dress, the way the fabric drapes at the back is lovely.
This is stunning-- the way you can create shimmering metallic detail and subtle shading... Congratulations on your DD! there should be more work like this in the DD section....
